Auszeichnung für Präventionsprojekt „Communities that Care“
Braunschweig seit 2017 Teil des Projekts
Braunschweig.
Das Präventionsprojekt „Communities That Care – Prävention nach Maß“ des Landespräventionsrates Niedersachsen wurde am 10. September in Berlin mit dem renommierten „Glory in Prevention Award“ in der Kategorie „Prävention in Stadt und Land“ ausgezeichnet. Die Stadt Braunschweig ist seit 2017 Teil des Projekts.
„Die Auszeichnung ist eine großartige Anerkennung für die engagierte Arbeit aller Beteiligten – sowohl auf Landesebene als auch hier in Braunschweig“, sagt Sozialdezernentin Dr. Christina Rentzsch. „Wir sind stolz darauf, Teil dieses wegweisenden Projekts zu sein und damit einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Sicherheit und Gesundheit unserer Kinder und Jugendlichen zu leisten.“
„Communities that Care“ unterstützt Kommunen in Niedersachsen dabei, Gewalt- und Kriminalprävention bei Kindern und Jugendlichen gezielt zu fördern. Ziel ist es, jungen Menschen ein sicheres und gesundes Aufwachsen zu ermöglichen. Braunschweig hat sich frühzeitig für die Umsetzung der „Communities That Care“ (CTC)-Methode entschieden und setzt seitdem auf eine innovative und datenbasierte Präventionsstrategie.
Ein zentraler Bestandteil des Projekts ist die regelmäßige Befragung von Schülerinnen und Schülern, um Problemlagen frühzeitig zu erkennen und passgenaue Präventionsmaßnahmen zu entwickeln. In Braunschweig wird diese Befragung seit 2017 in den Jahrgängen 7, 9 und 11 durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse fließen direkt in die Jugendhilfeplanung und die Präventionsarbeit der Schulen ein.
Insgesamt setzen rund 45 Kommunen in Niedersachsen das Angebot ein und werden durch den Landespräventionsrat dabei begleitet und unterstützt.
