Hans Scheuerecker Turns 75: Cottbus/Chóśebuz Honors Him at City Hall
Mayor Tobias Schick Honors His Life's Work – Exhibitions and a New Book Announced for the Anniversary

The city of Cottbus/Chóśebuz congratulated the artist Hans Scheuerecker on Friday with a reception in the foyer of the city hall at Neumarkt on his 75th birthday.
Mayor Tobias Schick honored the celebrant at the reception. He emphasized that it was special to celebrate the birthday within a self-created artwork. At the same time, he highlighted the importance of artists like Scheuerecker for city life and his lasting legacy in Cottbus/Chóśebuz.
Pioneering Figure in the Cottbus Art Scene
According to the city, Hans Scheuerecker founded an alternative scene in Cottbus/Chóśebuz that still has an impact beyond the city. In 2011, he redesigned the city hall's foyer under the title "Sachlichkeit in Stein". The work is considered an unmistakable masterpiece by Scheuerecker.
The reception was accompanied by art enthusiasts and companions of the artist. These included, among others, members of the group "Sandow" and the artist group "Nachtlabor".
Exhibitions and a New Book for the Birthday
On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Hans Scheuerecker will be honored with exhibitions at the Brandenburg State Museum of Fine Arts and the Kunsthalle Lausitz.
In addition, the long-time companions Steve Sabor and Thomas Richert presented a new book about the artist. The book is titled "Lost in Paradise – 75 Moments with Hans Scheuerecker".
